Brian has 30 years of experience as a consultant, instructor, and mental health professional with federal agencies, non-profits, universities, the health industry, and international businesses. His underlying philosophy is realistic, practical, and results oriented. He recognizes that every staff member’s time is valuable, so his programs are concise and focused on helping individuals acquire knowledge and skills linked to their specific needs.

Trained as a social worker and psychologist, Brian provided direct service to clients in inpatient and outpatient hospital settings and community healthcare agencies. He also directed a community mental health clinic where he practiced and instructed on evidence-based practices. He provides consultation to numerous community and government organizations on issues relating to health and education. He has used these to educate the public on social policy and healthcare topics. In 2024, Brian led the launch of the first federal mental health and well-being plan based on the Surgeon General’s 2022 framework for healthy organizations. In his work with organizations, he is known for integrating the concepts of resilience and mindfulness into his programs.

Brian combines the interpersonal elements of leadership style with organizational performance and the alignment of mission, vision, strategic goals, and measurable performance indicators. Having worked in the U.S. and Europe with numerous international entities, including the United Nations, Pan American Health Organization, the European Commission, USAID, and Grant Thornton, he is well-versed in the skill-building of diverse teams. In his leadership roles, Brian has served on private and non-profit boards and held executive/officer-level positions in international management consulting firms.

Brian holds a doctorate in Counseling/Human and Organizational Studies from George Washington University and a master’s degree in social administration from Case Western Reserve University. He is a faculty member at George Washington University, teaching Diagnosis and Treatment, Group Dynamics, and Theories of Psychology. Brian is an ICF-certified executive coach, trained as a Federal Workplace Mediator at the Institute for Conflict Analysis and Resolution, and is certified by the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) to administer the Center’s 360-degree instruments.
